General Tractor Specification Rules: Applies To All Tractors In All Classes
- All member’s tractors will be assigned an SHS number. This number needs to be displayed on tractor at owner’s expense. Numbers are to be a minimum of 2”.
- All tractors must have hood, grill, fenders extending a minimum of 4” over tires, and seat with minimum 3” back
- All tractors must have functional brakes and steering
- All tractors must have four operating tires/wheels, all of which must make contact with ground.
- Steel or aluminum wheels are permitted (no plastic wheels supporting tractor)
- Rear tires must be air-filled. Front air-less tires on metal wheels will be permitted.
- Minimum front wheel diameter 4” (minimum tire diameter 6”) Must be steel/aluminum wheels with tires no less than 2-1/2” wide
- All tractors must have sufficient shielding of belts, chains, clutches, pulleys, flywheels etc. to deflect possible flying parts.
- No chains, cleats, dual wheels or four-wheel drive allowed in any class
- All weights must be securely attached. No weights on seats, hoods etc.
- All tractors must have a break-away kill switch that will kill engine and fuel pump. 1” ring to be located within 6” from center on back of tractor. (Please see individual class rules for fuel pump requirements)
- All tractors must have Dead Man’s Throttle (except stock class)
- Re-gearing by changing pulley sizes or gears is permitted.
- Locked rear axle permitted.
- All tractors must have draw-bars no higher than 12” from the ground to the top of the hitch. (SHS official measuring tool must be used to verify measurement) Hitch must be rigid in all directions. Hitch must have an easily accessible hole for the hook no less than 1-1/2“diameter. If using a clevis, it must be horizontal and rigid in all directions.
- All tractors must have a safety device to prevent turnovers in the form of two functioning wheelie bars which must have wheels or skid-plates. Wheelie bar wheels/skid plates must be no more than 5” off ground and extend no less than 5” behind tires (measured to the center of the wheel or pad). Wheelie bars must be a minimum of 10” apart. (measured to the outside of wheels or skids) Wheelie bars must have a minimum 5” diameter, 1” wide wheel or minimum of a 3” wide pad at ground contact point and be able to support the weight of the tractor and driver.
